week 2 questions

Well there are many different ways that people respond to literature, emotionally, physically, scholarly. I think the way people respond to it is by the way the literature is presented to them. A person reading a book for their own personal reasons might respond to it in any of the three ways I listed above depending on what the wanted to gain from the literature. Some people read to gain more knowledge on certain subjects or to escape from the real world for a couple of hours and get caught up in a really exciting story. Literature is also writing as well so people can respond to something by writing about it, how they feel, write to someone, write about someone it's whatever message the author wants to get across to an audience.I think the way people respond to literature is the way the literature is presented to them and the reasons why they are either reading or writing being personal or for school, work or whatever else.
If everyone critically analyzed literature then I think it would take away some fun out of it and make it kind of boring unless you were given an assignment to critically analyze some piece of literature. I don't think everyone would analyze everything the same, people think different from one another and some pieces of literature just make different impressions on people. If everyone did critically analyze literature allot less people would read, some people don't want an analysis of what they are reading or to really think about why they felt this way when they read something. I think our lives would change because literature would slowly stop if everyone critically analyzed everything they read. People who read and write just because they enjoy it wouldn't enjoy it anymore because there would have to a reason behind everything they read and write. The only part of our lives that wouldn't change is the scholar part of it because students (especially English students) have to analyze certain pieces of literature and try to figure out what the author's message is. Critically analyzing everything would suck the fun out of literature for people who just want to get lost in a book for a couple of hours but for scholarly reasons literature would stay the same just get more difficult.
